Phillip Martin, Chairman of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, sent a letter to U.S. Senator Fred Harris requesting support for direct funding to Indian Tribes for an occupational education program. Senator Harris responded, thanking Martin for the letter and telegram, and assured him that he would consider the feelings of the Choctaw Tribe when it comes time to vote on the legislation. Harris expressed his commitment to helping the cause of the Indians.
