The United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, sent a letter to Senator Harris thanking him for his interest in higher education for American Indians. They provided information on the Higher Education Program and other financial assistance programs available to American Indians. They encouraged individuals to contact the institutions they plan to attend for admittance and financial aid consideration, and to establish their Indian blood quantum with the Area Office scholarship representative. The letter was signed by Commissioner Lauan R. Bruce.
