Mr. Little Charlie Franks wrote to Senator Fred Harris seeking assistance in attending college part-time with financial aid from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the GI Bill. The Bureau of Indian Affairs informed Senator Harris that they can provide supplemental aid to American Indian veterans on a need basis. Senator Harris contacted the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Veterans Administration to request a complete report on Mr. Franks' case. Mr. Franks expressed his financial difficulties in attending college due to commuting costs, living expenses, and being a veteran. Senator Harris promised to follow up on the matter and provide assistance.
