The National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S. Office of Education announced an expanded Artists-in-Schools Program with funding of nearly $2.5 million for the 1972-73 school year. This program places professional artists in elementary and secondary classrooms in all 50 states and five special jurisdictions. The program aims to increase children's powers of perception and ability to express themselves creatively. Various components of the program include architecture/environmental arts, dance, and film. The program has been successful in previous years and will now include all states and special jurisdictions.
