Mr. Simmons Thompson's Old Age Assistance grant was discontinued due to the value of his land being considered as a resource. He wrote to Congressman Albert seeking assistance to reinstate his grant. Congressman Albert's office contacted the Public Welfare Department to look into the matter. Thompson, a 76-year-old Choctaw Indian, expressed his concerns about not receiving assistance despite not having much land or assets. He sought help from Congressman Albert to addressee Carl Albert the issue.
