Chief Edwin Tanyan of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma is requesting funding for a health clinic to address Carl Albert severe health problems within their community. The current Community Health Representation Program is limited in providing transportation to the nearest health facility, which is 32 miles away. The Indian Health Service Unit in Shawnee serves a majority of Seminole County residents, but referrals to hospitals are over 100 miles away. The lack of access Carl Albert to adequate health services is a significant issue for the Seminole people.
