The Seminole Indian Nation Day Committee in Wewoka, Oklahoma is planning a spring festival on May 17 and 18, 1974. The festivities include an open house, pow-wow with Plains Indian dances, stick ball game, gospel singing, and Seminole traditional activities. The goal is to instill pride in being a native American and share cultural traditions. The Committee is working with the Oklahoma Bi Centennial Commission to implement proposed programs. Chief Tanyan invites everyone to participate in the event, which is a warm-up for the Seminole Indian Nation Day later in the summer. Display of Seminole arts and crafts, as well as performances by plains Indian and Seminole stomp dancers, will be featured.
