In May 1974, Central State University hosted Indian Heritage Week, which was a success. The event included a presentation by Jim Baker on the image of Indians in public relations. Bacone College also held an Indian Language Seminar, featuring discussions on the importance of Indian languages in education. Mary Cunningham was chosen as the Indian Princess, and Miss Carl Albert Cosma Rhinehart was appointed as Deputy Chief of Nursing Services for the Indian Health Service Oklahoma City Area.
