Update on Negotiations for Coal and Asphalt Lands in Talihina, Oklahoma, 1947-04-14

 Item — Box: 2, Folder: 4
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_2_4_0017
Carl Albert received a letter from Mr. Dukes and other Indian citizens regarding the coal and asphalt lands. He will push for a successful conclusion in the upcoming meeting in Washington. There is a bill in Congress Carl Albert to extend lease terms, but it will not be pushed until after negotiations are completed. Carl Albert will only support the bill if it does not affect the salability of the lands. He wants to protect the rights of the Indians while also ensuring the coal mines stay open. Carl Albert appreciates the letter and welcomes further communication.
