Congress Carl Albert has intervened to prevent the federal Public Roads Administration from imposing its own projects on Oklahoma's highway program. The $500 million federal aid highway bill passed with the intention of ensuring that states have the right to initiate projects without interference from the PRA. Oklahoma's program was planned in accordance with the wishes of its citizens, and the state's congressional delegation supported Governor Turner in opposing the PRA's actions. The bill now moves to the Senate for further action.
