The letter informs Mr. D. J. Wesley that Harry J. W. Belvin has been appointed as Principal Chief of the Choctaw Nation, after receiving the highest number of votes in an election held on June 21. President Truman signed a commission appointing Mr. Belvin for a term of four years starting on August 18, 1948. The letter is signed by William Zimmerman, Jr., Acting Commissioner of Indian Affairs.
