Oklahoma Congressional Delegation Announces Progress on Per Capita Payments for Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes, 1949-01-01 - 1949-12-31

Congressman Albert, chair of the Oklahoma Congressional delegation, announced that the delegation met with William Johnson, Assistant Commissioner of Indian Affairs, and V.O. Roberts at the Five Civilized Tribes Agency to discuss procedures for making per capita payments to the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes. Superintendent Roberts will set up an office in Machagee to handle the payments and issue a press release with details soon. Payments are expected to start in July, with each enrolled member receiving $350. Additional payments will be made after checks are sent out to all enrolled members.
