Congressman Carl Albert from the Third District of Oklahoma announced the inclusion of $385,000 in the Second Supplemental Appropriation Bill for a Choctaw per capita payment. This payment is part of the commutation of treaty obligations with the Choctaws as provided for in the Albert Act. The bill will be brought to the House floor on October 10 and Congressman Albert predicted its passage. The funds will be distributed per capita along with funds from successful judgments in lease district cases. The Oklahoma Congressional Delegation will request the Bureau of Indian Affairs to begin making payments once the appropriations are finalized.
