Congressman Carl Albert announced that the prospects of Choctaw per capita payments were improved with the inclusion of $385,000 in the Second Supplemental Appropriation Bill. The funds were added to fulfill treaty obligations with the Choctaws as outlined in the Albert Act. The bill was reported by the Appropriations Committee and is expected to pass in the House. The funds will be distributed per capita along with other appropriated funds. The Oklahoma Congressional Delegation will request the Bureau of Indian Affairs to begin making payments once the appropriations are finalized.
