Congressman Carl Albert announced that a $385,000 item has been included in the Second Supplemental Appropriation Bill for Choctaw per capita payments. This funding is for the commutation of treaty obligations with the Choctaws as outlined in the Albert Act. The bill is expected to pass easily in the House and funds will be distributed along with previously appropriated funds. The Oklahoma Congressional Delegation will request the Bureau of Indian Affairs to begin making payments promptly.
