Item — Box: 1, Folder: 54
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_16_1_54_0014
Congressman Carl Albert announced that there is an item of $385,000 included in the Second Supplemental Appropriation Bill to provide funds for the commutation of treaty obligations with the Choctaw tribe. The bill will be considered by the House on October 10, and Albert predicts it will pass easily. The funds will be distributed per capita to members of the tribe, along with previously appropriated funds from successful judgments in lease district cases. The Oklahoma Congressional Delegation will request the Bureau of Indian Affairs to start making payments as soon as the appropriations are finalized.
