Speaker Carl Albert welcomes Dr. Clennon E. Sockey, a Choctaw Indian from Oklahoma, as the new Director of Indian Education Programs of the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington, D.C. Dr. Sockey has degrees from the University of Oklahoma, and previously worked as a teacher and administrator in California. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
