Concerns of Corps of Engineers Employees: A Call for Fair Compensation, 1951-06-27
Item — Box: 27, Folder: 17
Identifier: CAC_CC_047_3_27_17_0006
Weldon L. McDonald, an employee of the Corps of Engineers, wrote to Hon. George Schwabe expressing his concerns about the lack of salary increases for federal employees, including those in the Corps of Engineers. He mentioned the rising cost of living and the need for salary increases to stay in line with private industry. He also disagreed with the Douglas Amendment that would cut annual and sick leave for Corps of Engineers employees. McDonald requested Schwabe's support for maintaining current leave policies and for a substantial salary increase for federal employees. Schwabe responded that he would consider McDonald's concerns and listen to arguments on the matter.
