Mrs. Harwell wrote to Representative George B. Schwabe requesting his support for Senator Byrd's efforts to reduce non-essential, non-defense expenditures by six to eight billion dollars. Schwabe responded by assuring her that he would continue to work towards reducing expenditures and eliminating wasteful spending in both non-defense and military programs. He expressed gratitude for the support he receives from constituents like Mrs. Harwell and promised to remain steadfast in his convictions.
