The Osage tribe is owed a long overdue debt by the government for the sale of their lands in Kansas. Despite efforts to pass bills in congress to pay the debt, final action has not been taken. The Osage people believe the money was meant for their benefit, but it was spent on the education and civilization of Indians nationwide. The claim has been recommended for payment but has not been finalized. Pressure is needed on representatives to ensure the debt is paid.
