Concerns about Indian Education Scholarships and Inequality in Funding Allocation, 1973-09-25

 Item — Box: 30, Folder: 5
Identifier: CAC_CC_003_2_30_5_0003
The letter is a response to Mrs. Frank Cronk's concerns about Indian education scholarships. The Senator acknowledges that the system may not be perfect and that wealthy Indian families may have more luck in getting grants. However, he mentions that the Bureau of Indian Affairs has provided financial aid to needy Indian students, including some from the Stillwater area. He also mentions that the Bureau's educational funds were cut and that there are other financial resources available for Indian students. Mrs. Cronk questions why wealthy families are receiving scholarships while needy children are being turned down, and expresses concern about the fairness of the program.
