Advocating for Indian Education: Congressional Hearings in Oklahoma, 1977-07-20

 Item — Box: 31, Folder: 6
Identifier: CAC_CC_003_2_31_6_0017
The Oklahoma Indian Education Association requested Senator Dewey Bartlett's assistance in scheduling Congressional field hearings on Indian education in Oklahoma. However, the Committee does not have plans for field hearings but will have hearings in Washington in the fall, where the Association will be invited to present testimony. The Association emphasized the need for Congressional hearings in Oklahoma due to misunderstandings of the Indian Education Act by local school administrators and personnel. They are contacting the Congressional Advisory Group on Indian Education and Congressman Blouin to request these hearings.
