Lisa Ringer, a student at Mitchell Elementary School, wrote a letter to Senator Dewey Bartlett expressing her support for the extension of Title IV funds of the Indian Education Act. Senator Bartlett responded, assuring Lisa that he will support the extension of the funds when the matter reaches the Senate floor. Lisa shared that she is proud of her Cherokee heritage and the education program has taught her about her tribe and other tribes as well.
