 Item — Box: 33, Folder: 2
Identifier: CAC_CC_003_2_33_2_0009
Eight candidates for Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation have asked for the results of an inquiry into a housing venture by the tribe to be made public before the election on August 2. The investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has not been completed yet. Ross Swimmer, a candidate and former tribal attorney, initiated the inquiry and has stated that he intends to bring about major changes in the tribe's employee structure if elected. Some tribal employees did not attend a luncheon endorsing Swimmer due to opposition to his candidacy.
