The text consists of correspondence between the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the United States Senate regarding audits of Indian Housing Authorities. The Department cannot authorize audits or allow independent accounting firms to conduct audits, as they are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Interior. The Department is in the process of renegotiating audit services agreements with the Department of Interior. Additionally, there is a request for clarification on whether HUD can conduct audits or allow independent firms to do so for the Apache Tribe of Indians in Oklahoma.
