A task force has been established within HUD to address issues related to Indian programs. The task force will recommend policy alternatives on organization, funding, training, audits, and other areas. The task force is expected to present policy alternatives by November 1, 1975. The first report of the task force contains recommendations for immediate action, including seeking Indian Housing set-asides in future budget requests and initiating demonstration projects for providing housing for American Indians. Additional recommendations cover audits, bookkeeping procedures, legislative authorization for funding, and training programs for HUD personnel and Indian housing authority staff.
