Senator Dewey F. Bartlett wrote a letter in support of the Citizen Band of Potawatomi Indians of Shawnee, Oklahoma, who had applied for funding under the Indian Education Act. The Deputy Commissioner for Indian Education, Gerald Gipp, thanked Senator Bartlett for his support and assured him that the application would receive fair consideration during the review process. Final funding decisions were expected to be made by late May 1978, and successful applicants would be notified prior to the general announcement of awards.
