A committee print of the Indian Self Determination and Educational Reform Act of 1973, introduced in the Senate to promote maximum Indian participation in government and education, establish a national Indian education program, and encourage the development of human resources for Indian people. The Act recognizes the historical and special legal relationship between the Federal Government and American Indian people, and aims to transition from Federal domination of programs to meaningful participation of Indian people in planning and administration. The Act also sets a national goal to provide quality educational services and opportunities for Indian children and adults.
