Governor Overton James of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma expresses concern to Secretary Harris of HUD about the delay in appointing a Special Assistant for Indian Housing and Alaska Native Programs. Senator Bartlett assures Governor James that the Secretary has all necessary information and an announcement can be expected soon. Governor James expresses frustration at the lack of progress in improving housing delivery for American Indians and urges Secretary Harris to take action.
