Kiowa Tribe Housing Concerns: A Call for Action, 1978-08-15

 Item — Box: 33, Folder: 5
Identifier: CAC_CC_003_2_33_5_0025
Senator Dewey F. Bartlett has written to Secretary Patricia Harris regarding difficulties faced by the Kiowa Housing Authority in obtaining assistance from the HUD Area Office in Oklahoma City for their Mutual-Help housing project. The HUD Area Office has recommended the use of Community Development Block Grant funds to repair the homes, but the Kiowa Tribe's application did not include funds for repair work. Additionally, the KHA is facing management deficiencies due to staff resignations and lack of capable employees. The Area Office is willing to fund the repair work once the KHA has employed a capable staff.
