The Chief of the Division of Indian Education Programs contacted Mrs. Emma Hart regarding enrollment at the Institute of the Southern Plains. There were 35 students enrolled and in attendance, with 34 more waiting for transportation. Mrs. Hart mentioned that there was a lack of funding for transportation, food, and supplies, but the school had started on September 18, 1978.
