Senator Dewey F. Bartlett wrote to the Office of Indian Education in support of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma's application for funding under the Indian Education Act. The Deputy Commissioner for Indian Education, Gerald E. Gipp, acknowledged the letter and assured that the application would receive fair consideration. Funding decisions were expected to be made by late April 1978.
