Eleven native Oklahomans have been appointed to a commission to help shape future Indian legislation. U.S. Senator Dewey Bartlett plans to press for federal school aid for the Tulsa school system. The commission is focused on the Indian Self-Determination Act of 1975, which allows tribes to take control of some services. Bartlett also discussed the issue of crude oil decontrol and its potential impact on gasoline prices. Chief Harry Belvin of the Choctaws announced he would not seek re-election.
