The National Advisory Council on Indian Education passed a resolution on February 21, 1974 opposing S.B. 1017 in its present form. The resolution outlined various concerns about the funding formula, lack of Indian control, elimination of eligibility for some Indian organizations, and the impact on Indian education funds in states like Oklahoma. Senator Bartlett was urged to consider these concerns before supporting S.B. 1017.
