Floyd E. Maytubby, Governor of the Chickasaw Nation, wrote to Carl Albert, Member of Congress, seeking his assistance in obtaining the appointment as Commissioner of Indian Affairs. Maytubby outlined his qualifications and experience in Indian Affairs and expressed his desire for the position. Albert responded, expressing his support for Maytubby and indicating that he had recently recommended another individual for the position, but would be willing to assist Maytubby if that recommendation did not pan out. Albert wished Maytubby well and offered his help during the Holiday Season.
