Allen J. Brands, Chief Pharmacy Officer of Division of Indian Health, Washington, D. C., completed a review of pharmacy operations and services provided by U. S. Public Health Service for Indians in Oklahoma. Public Health Service pharmacists are stationed in Indian hospitals in various cities in Oklahoma, with Pharmacy Helpers aiding in non-professional pharmacy activities. Billy G. Wells, an Oklahoman, is the first Area Pharmacy Officer in Division of Indian Health and oversees pharmacy services in a five-state Indian Health Area. Pharmacy services are also provided to PHS Indian Hospitals, Health Stations, and School Health Centers in the area.
