Proposal for Purchase of Tribal Land for Charcoal Plant in Talihina, Oklahoma, 1962-12-08
Item — Box: 41, Folder: 43
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_41_43_0025
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is assisting in the purchase of Indian Tribal land in Talihina, Oklahoma for the construction of a charcoal plant. Efforts are being made to expedite the approval process at the field level, and if there is no response within a week or two, further action will be taken. The proposed plant has received written permission from the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes and is considered a good industry for the town. Time is of the essence, as a delay may result in losing the industry to another location. The hope is to negotiate the purchase without a public sale.
