Investigation into Cherokee Per Capita Payments, 1963-01-01 - 1963-12-31

 Item — Box: 44, Folder: 22
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_44_22_0003
A complaint was made regarding per capita payments to individuals who were deemed ineligible to receive them under Cherokee heirship rights. Congressman Carl Albert investigated the matter and found that the payments were made in accordance with the law as the recipients were heirs of deceased, enrolled Cherokee Indians. The Director of the Muskogee Bureau of Indian Affairs Office confirmed this information.
