The Bureau of Indian Affairs received a letter from Ted Reynolds expressing concern about the use of peyote and other hallucinogens among American Indians. Reynolds hoped that more magazines would investigate the issue. Congressman Carl Albert, in response, acknowledged Reynolds' concerns and stated that he shared an interest in the welfare of the American Indian. Albert mentioned that he had not yet read the articles on the topic but intended to do so. Reynolds also expressed distrust in the current administration's concern for the American Indian.
