Congress has approved the sale of coal and asphalt lands and deposits owned by the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes of Indians for $8.5 million. This approval was made through Senate Joint Resolution 203, which confirms a contract between the tribes and the Secretary of the Interior. The resolution is a result of Public Law 369 and aims to fulfill a treaty between the tribes and the United States. Per capita payments from the sale cannot be made until funds are appropriated by Congress.
