The 'Indian Problem' in White America: A Critical Analysis, 1968-02-29

 Item — Box: 71, Folder: 1
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_71_1_0004
The memorandum from Senator A. S. Mike Monroney addresses Johnny Carson regarding a commercial for Liquid Plumer that highlights the negative attitude of white America towards Native Americans. The commercial shows a white American man trying to unclog a sink and commenting that he is about ready to give the sink back to the Indians. The letter criticizes the treatment of Native Americans throughout history and sarcastically suggests that they won't appreciate being given a filthy sink either. It is a commentary on the "Indian problem" in the United States.
