The letter acknowledges receipt of a letter regarding the segregated coal and asphalt lands of the Chickasaw and Choctaw Tribes. A sale price of $8,500,000 has been agreed upon and a contract is being drawn up. Each enrolled member of the tribes will have an opportunity to vote on the proposed sale. If accepted, Congress will need to appropriate money for the contract price, resulting in a per capita payment of approximately $300. The sender requests more detailed information and asks for advice on the matter.
