Item — Box: 1, Folder: 94
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_1_94_0008
The text includes correspondence between Mr. J. H. Belvin and Carl Albert regarding the removal of William A. Durant as Principal Chief of the Choctaw Nation. The Choctaw-Chickasaw Confederation requested Durant's removal due to his absence at a meeting in Washington. However, it is stated that Durant's absence was due to illness and that all enrolled members will have the opportunity to vote on the terms of the sale of tribal coal and asphalt deposits. Additionally, proposed regulations for a tribal election to select a new Principal Chief are being developed.
