The letter from Carl Albert to Mr. Bentley Beams discusses a recent transaction between the Department of Interior and tribal officials regarding the sale of coal and asphalt lands. An agreement was reached for the Department of Interior to pay $8,500,000 for the lands, which will be presented to enrolled Indians for approval. If approved, the proceeds will be distributed to tribal members on a per capita basis. Mr. Beams also writes to Carl Albert asking for more information on the matter to inform the older tribal members who are depending on him for updates.
