Title: Blood Verification for Educational Assistance Eligibility, 1970-10-19

 Item — Box: 123, Folder: 25
Identifier: CAC_CC_001_4_123_25_0008
Mrs. Rita Megehee wrote to the Bureau of Indian Affairs inquiring about her maternal grandmother's tribal affiliation. The Bureau checked records and found that her grandmother was not listed as a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe but was listed on the 1394 Sac and Fox roll. The Bureau confirmed that Mrs. Megehee's children are eligible for educational assistance based on their Indian blood quantum. The Shawnee Agency also confirmed Mrs. Megehee's Indian blood quantum but could not verify her Shawnee heritage.
