On January 18, 1971, a call was made to John Hopi Fishimmings, a Democrat from Chickasaw, regarding H.U.D. Chickasaw. The Chickasaw Housing Authority had pulled back a loan and committed to other towns, leaving only 45 units in Ardmore, Marietta, and Creek. The Housing Authority of Chickasaw Nations of Oklahoma received approval for a project involving the construction of 99 Low Rent units in Ardmore and Marietta and 61 Mutual Help units in Johnston County. The project was approved by Secretary George Romney and the recipient was the Housing Authority of Chickasaw Nations of Oklahoma. For more information, contact Mr. B. E. Wood, the Executive Director of the Housing Authority.
