Tribal Enrollment and Eligibility Inquiries, 1959-06-10

 Item — Box: 45, Folder: 8a
Identifier: CAC_CC_004_5_45_8A_0002
Mrs. Alma Chapman inquired about her eligibility for two Indian rolls at the same time, specifically the Pawnee and Otoe-Missouria tribes. The Bureau of Indian Affairs explained that eligibility for one does not affect eligibility for the other, as they are separate rolls for distributing judgment money. They also clarified that until an award is made to the Pawnee Tribe, they cannot determine how the money will be distributed. The Bureau also addressed concerns about tribal council eligibility and misunderstandings about payment based on blood. They assured Mrs. Chapman that her situation would be explained to the Pawnee Business Council.
