Mr. Horace G. Bell from Lithia Springs, Georgia, wrote to Hon. Page Belcher, a Member of Congress, seeking information about the descendants of his aunt who went to Indian Territory in 1870. Belcher forwarded the letter to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, who recommended contacting the Oklahoma State Historical Society in Oklahoma City for assistance. Belcher assured Bell that he would help and provide information as soon as possible. Bell had previously written to other organizations in Oklahoma but received no response.
