The Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs has awarded $2.7 million to the Peoria Indian Tribe of Oklahoma as additional payment for land ceded in Indiana in the 1800s. The funds were appropriated and have been on deposit since 1971. Individual shares will be processed through the Treasury Department's regional disbursing office in Denver and mailed directly to eligible recipients.
