Mary L. Williams from Tulsa, Oklahoma wrote to Hon. Page Belcher, a member of Congress, regarding land set aside for the Murrow Indian Orphans Home that is currently being administered by Bacone College. Belcher forwarded the letter to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for consideration. The Bureau explained that the land was initially given to the Choctaw Indians by George Murrow, and that it is currently under the jurisdiction of the Five Civilized Tribes. The Bureau suggested that Williams discuss her proposal to advertise the land for bid with Bacone College officials. Belcher assured Williams that he will look into the matter and provide her with any necessary information.
